Description

Welcome.
WHAT IS GREAT ABOUT IT: Leonard and Lula Weebothee are among the great masters of Zuni artistry. This hair ornament is famous in that the design appears on the artists' page in the discontinued book Zuni The Art and the People. So this is a book piece in that respect and I've included the page above. It is a beautiful and graceful work of art which looks like a tiara in the hair.  The gorgeous quality Kingman turquoise is cut in two different ways; the rich petit point stones, flat on top, and carved high stones combined, all exceptional stone work and typical of this couple. The silver work is also special and includes an applied leaf which is stamped and stamping along the sinuous vine stamp. I've left comb in its original state with the single tooth missing from the comb though I considered converting it to be a pin. Ultimately I decided I should leave it in its original state; it's an important collectible piece. The buyer can always decide whether to replace the comb, to convert it to be a pin, or to leave it as is. Of course it can be worn in the hair with the one tooth missing and the missing tooth wouldn't show when it is being worn. It is absolutely gorgeous, surely unique and museum worthy. It's an extraordinary find, very rare and beautiful. Note that I found one that was either converted to be a bracelet by the famous Lewis Lomay or it was a collaboration between the Weebothee's and Lomay and originally made as a bracelet. I've included a picture above. It is available separately.
CONDITION: very good vintage wearable and collectible. The turquoise and silver are in excellent like new condition; the comb is missing a tooth
