WWII Japanese Type 98 Shin Gunto Officers SWORD

from a smoke free home. I listed this sword and I changed my mind about selling it but I have decided
there's
a new toy I want, so I'll let this go.
12 pictures is not nearly enough. used as found.
Out of my element on this one, so look at the pics and I have more pics if needed.
the blade is approx 23 13/16" long from the tip to the tang notch when measured straight. the sword overall length of the sword is approx 36" (also measuring straight).
one small nick in the blades edge approx 5 1/2" from the tip.
some small signs of speckling and patina in the blade finish. I have not personally, nor have had anyone else polish the blade.
latch is not working.
One side of the blade has a short wide groove and the other side two narrow short grooves.
The temper line for the most part looks to be medium straight, hopefully it shows in my pics.
a decoration or ? is missing from the top of the pommel. the barrel fitting for the sarute has come unthreaded.
