WWII JAPANESE ARMY OFFICER SHIN GUNTO SWORD W/ LEATHER COVERED SCABBARD

Description

Good condition original WWII Japanese army officer Shin Gunto sword. 22 ¾” blade has original bright finish with some gray and brown patina and a clear temper line throughout. Edge has a few nicks. Right side of blade has some heat markings where the blade was straightened. Still has a slight sweep to the right. Tang is unmarked. Wooden tsuka has tight cloth tape wrap that shows some normal wear and staining. Nice white sharkskin covering and has a single menuki on both sides. Held to the tang with a single menuki. Brass tsuba has two seppa on both sides. Leather fuchi color has a scabbard securing strap that is worn. Fitted in correct original leather covered wooden scabbard. Leather is soft and supple with some normal wear, stitching is tight. Snaps function fine. A classic WWII Japanese sword that will make a fine addition to a collection.
