    One-of-a-Kind Journey
Czech jewelry specializes in costume glass, crafted to mimic the gemstones in fine jewelry, and this Art Deco pendant is a noteworthy example. Rectangular and quite thick, the central pendant has a smooth matte finish, made to simulate frosted rock crystal, which emphasizes the inset, oval shaped, shining canary-yellow cabochon. Hanging from its original bale that extends the design, this piece is dramatic for its considerable size as well as its unique silhouette.
    Condition Guide
    Excellent.
This piece is fresh looking and must have been tucked away and well
taken care of, the signs of wear are noticeable only on close inspection.
The silver tone setting has a bright patina with little darkening, no discoloration and minor surface wear.
The glass is smooth and gleaming without any chipping, minor surface scratching and wear (noticeable mainly on the frosted glass portion of the pendant) and the faceting is crisp and refractive.
There are no irregularities to the setting or signs of solder or repair and the piece has a firm shape.

    lector Note
    On Uncommon Pieces.
Uncommon antique and vintage pieces are often highly collectable because you are not likely to find another one. While some uncommon pieces have garnered a cult following, others are so uncommon that they do not have a large fanbase. The latter type may not be considered collectables, but they are lovely, one-of-a-kind finds.
    On Czech Glass.
Czech or bohemian glass created from the end of the Victorian era through the mid-century was world-renowned for its unprecedented resemblance to natural gemstones. Skilled craftsman from the region engineered new methods of cutting and coloring glass to simulate the look of rubies, diamonds, emeralds, sapphires, and more. In addition, Czech glass jewelry makers were highly trained in the metalwork for the settings around the glass. The Czech region produced so many different styles (all of superb quality) that Czech glass pieces have become their own collectable category.
