Description
Welcome.I'm offering for your consideration, a great old Zuni ring by the Nieto family which is quite spectacular with stunning natural green turquoise in two colors and superb silver work: look at the work on the bezel and the detailing on the snake . The turquoise looks like Blue Gem, either in two colors (light and dark), or the darker is Morenci. The matrixes are a good match to each other and the two stones together are particularly beautiful as a pairing. This ring is quite early and special.
There are only a few Zuni families that worked with snakes and the Nieto family is less well known but as proficient as the other (Simplicio -- Calavaza).
The dimensions of the ring include a face size of 1.25" high and about 3/4" wide. And the weight is very substantial. My scale is temporarily out of commission but this is a heavy ring. This ring is size 10, is suitable for a man or a woman. Overall condition is excellent vintage, wearable and very collectible. As usual for the older pieces, it isn't signed by the artist or marked for silver content but I guarantee it's Nieto family work and the metal is at least coin at .900 and more likely sterling silver at .925. It's a really gorgeous ring and highly collectible.

Attributions on many of the old pieces of Native American jewelry are sometimes a moving target. All the books have errors, so in addition to counterchecking, I have developed some expertise over the years and I do care about getting it right, so as more information comes to light I update my listings and also get in touch with my previous buyers, to inform them of any changes in attributions. I am sincerely committed to ongoing accuracy.
