This is an authentic Sony replacement part for PlayStation 2 fat systems.

cannot
replace a 400
C
laser with this part, it will not fit into the optical drive assembly
. Authentic Sony 400C lasers are also available for sale if that is the part your system needs.
This part will not be a compatible replacement for the Sanyo HD7 laser (sometimes referred to as the KHS-400R) for the same reason.
You will need a soldering iron to remove the factory antistatic protection on the underside of the part, otherwise it will not work.
You will also need a torx T3 screwdriver to transfer the small black screw on the left of your original lens.
This is necessary for the new part to work as the screw adjusts the tangential skew of the laser.
The laser will not be able to focus properly unless it is aligned.
