NATIONAL DENKI
ARROW "M" STAMPED
MATSUSHITA KINZOKU
TYPE 30 RIFLE BAYONET
WITH ORIGINAL WOODEN SCABBARD
This original Type 30 bayonet is of late war construction and is in good condition. This model has the blued non-fullered blade which is stamped with the Arrow M trademark of the National Denki Matsushita Kinzoku maker. The blade is in very good shape and still pretty sharp. It appears it has not been cleaned. The blade has a distinct burnt oil smell. The flattened-style bird's head pommel was a later variant before the squared off pommel became the standard to reduce manufacturing time. The butt-end is stamped with Serial #26527 that can be made out (seen well in Picture #7).
The press stud is still tight and functions perfectly. And, the flat wooden grips, retain some of the original finish, with no splits or cracks. The scabbard is the typical late war wooden scabbard bound with cotton twine. Two of the bindings have gone to time, but the original blackened metal chape is still present and tight.
Overall, the wooden scabbard is in good condition with moderate finish and handling wear, and exhibits moderate scuffing, small bruises/dents without significant damages, splits, or cracks. The scabbard fittings, including the throat, are snug with only some wobble and chatter. The scabbard also has a distinct burnt smell to it and it appears this was the original scabbard that matches the bayonet.
This is a very nice example of the Type 30 bayonet as used in the darker days of the war.
This is a vintage Arrow "M" Matsushita Kinzoku Late WWII Type 30 Japanese Bayonet with Wooden Scabbard in VERY GOOD condition for its age.
The blade is showing signs wear with some scratches and weathering marks but is still pretty sharp and doesn't have a crack or bend throughout.
The handle is in GOOD condition showing normal wear for the time and is complete & intact with all the original rivets and wartime serial number, stamped on the pommel end.
The only issue with the bayonet is the distinct smell of burnt oil.
All pieces of the bayonet, including the wood handle appear to be original and have never been replaced or cleaned.
