Chesaconcavus tamiamiensis
The Fossil BARNICLE (
Chesaconcavus tamiamiensis
)
is one of Florida’s oddest fossils
from the Pliocene period, part of the Tamiami Formation
.
You get the exact specimen shown in the photos above, which is
9.2 cm. long.
It was collected at the bottom of the Warren Pits, Sarasota, Fl.   It is now closed like most fossilshell pits in Florida.
