    Description

Japanese WWII Type 30 Bayonet, Variation A, with Scabbard.
Produced at the Nagoya Arsenal (Kaneshiro Sakuganki Seizo), serial # 97649.  According to my research, this is a Variation A. Only slight play in crossguard; otherwise, everything is tight.  Blade also has the "blood groove" not found on all variations.  The blade has retained a good deal of its bluing and in great shape considering its age and environment it was in. I count about a half-dozen very, very small  nicks.  Blade has not been sharpened.
Pommel is in great shape with out strike marks found in some by soldiers who had trouble freeing them from their Arisaka rifles.  The bayonet release button & latch are operational.  Metal surfaces have the typical patina/rust present.
Scabbard has the ball tip and the scabbard has no clearly visible dents, though there is the typical patina/rust present.
History: My father served in the U.S. Army 6th Infantry and, as I recall from his stories, picked this up during the liberation of the Philippines.
As always, I try to show the good, the bad, and the ugly in my photographs.  I will do my best to accommodate requests for add'l photos or information. Condition is "Used". Shipped with USPS Priority Mail.
