Japanese WW2 Sword 29 inches

Description

My grandfather was in WW2 and stationed in Japan after the war.  This was in his collection of items that he brought back.  I have not done any reconditioning.  He passed in 1957 so has probably never had any work done to it.  Length is 29 inches.  Let me know if you need any additional photos to identify.  I don't know what it is exactly.  Just want someone who appreciates this item to get it.
