  • Antique: No
  • Item must be returned within: 30 Days
  • Condition: In vintage, used condition with a few dark spots on the reverse ~ but doesn't affect the wearability. There was a restoration for the piece since the original clasp part with a same era (1920s - 1930s) spring clasp. Clasp is about the same color tone (it was really hard to find a replacement clasp for this time frame which matched). The clasp does have some finish loss, however, and a small ring original to the choker still remains in the clasp area ~ I won't remove it and will leave it there since it's original to the choker. Clasp is in good working condition. If you need the choker to be longer than 14 inches, then an extension will have to be added (not included in listing). Please see photos!

    Description

Up for consideration is a very pretty, art deco era, Victorian revival style, antiqued brass choker necklace which measures about 14 inches in length. The clasp was a restoration for the choker and may date anywhere from the 1920s to the 1940s. I'm listing the rhinestones as crystals, but the stones may actually be paste ~ it's hard for me to say with any certainty, but they are faceted. The color of the stones themselves, which is a little unusual, is between a light purple has kind of a pinkish cast to them. The choker has a number hallmark stamp of 137 on one of the links on the reverse side, but I have no idea what that means after doing a little research ~ for example: could be for the link style used, for the antique brass links, or maybe the number for the item when it was made in the line of production. Haven't really been able to find an exact piece of jewelry like this, so perhaps fairly rare, but similar pieces with that type of style with the 'antiquing' element were listed as being from the 1930s.
